While our small 20 acre farm is truly blessed with deep, fertile soil and adequate irrigation, at an elevation of 3600ft Montana's Bitterroot Valley offers a relatively short growing season. This, combined with a lack of social skills directs our efforts to the 'Wholesale' customer only!   |
 Qualified wholesale customers maintain a current Montana Nursery License and or are affiliated with the Montana Nursery Landscape Association, or S The Canyonview Nursery can provide listings of local landscapers and plantsman experienced in proper planting techniques. |
| Many are selections taken from the antique orchards left behind by breeders such as the late Niels Hansen of South Dakota, Frank Skinner, Dropmore, Manitoba, W.L. Kerr of Saskatchewan. Scions from arboretums and repositories, and private collections are bud grafted to the hardiest root stocks available. Our custom "Montana Grown" trees are trained using Schmidt Gro-Straights to eliminate doglegs at the bud union, staked to produce straight leaders and pruned to assure a uniform canopy. The finished product is a two year old well branched canopy, grafted to an aggressive, fibrous, winter hardy root system.
